Jay-Z hiding behind Beyonce’s Skirt??

….apparently so, and from what I can see, there is plenty of room to hide.

I used to be a bigger fan of Jay-Z a couple of years back, but lately he’s been coming across phony.  I mean he’s part of the drama club (pretending to rap good), part of the home economics club (sewing and fashion), and part of the “has been” club, since all of the rhymes in his newer songs have just been too contrived.  He’s not hip-hop, he’s entertainment.   That’s fine, but don’t call yourself a rapper, when you are sanitized commercial.  And certainly don’t call out legends of the game, when you are just a paper tiger.

Maybe I am late to the game in realizing this.  It wasn’t too long ago that he dissed Nas, and Nas destroyed him on “Ether” (see below).  It was one of the best comeback raps of all time.  Like a master punishing his pupil Nas dismantled him, and Jay-Z had no choice but to go into retirement.  Jay-Z shouldn’t start shit by talking trash.  Talking trash doesn’t mean anything, especially if you can’t back it up.

Now he has a beef with Oakland’s own “MC Hammer”.  Well Jay-Z needs to “ring the bell, because school’s back in”.  MC Hammer has come out with a response called “Better Run Run” (see below).

So several years ago Nas said Jay-Z traded his soul for riches in “Ether”, and today Mc Hammer says the same thing.  Is it a case of where there is smoke there is fire?  Did I fail to mention that one of my favorites, LL Cool J, also had beef with Jay-Z a couple of years, because Jay-Z dissed LL Cool J in one of his songs.  LL Cool J handled it smoothly, as one would expect, but now in 2010 Jay-Z takes another shot at Uncle L, in a Rolling Stone interview.  Jay-Z should mine his own, get to the gym, and keep his mouth shut.

What people will do for a McNugget and a monopoly piece…

Question: What do you get when you mix (1) Chicken McNuggets, (2) Small Fry’s, (3) Monopoly Game Pieces, and (4) Drunk People?

Answer: YouTube Preview Image

The disturbing part is that this is my McDonalds – three blocks away from my place.  I’ve been there a bunch of times, but I guess people know to slow their roll around me, so I’ve never seen trouble.

According to the person who took the video – here is what happened:

This was taken at the McDonald’s right next to AT&T park. Some chick was arguing about their order, the chick with the yellow thong tells her, she shouldn’t talk like that in front of her daughter. Chick says she’s not my daughter and throws soda at the yellow thong chick. then all hell breaks loose.

Here is the article with write up and description in the newspaper:  Article

Awesome Song Flashback - Dishwalla - Counting Blue Cars

I downloaded this song a while back, somehow it got in my head, and its awesomeness always leaves me amazed.  Take a look at the lyrics, and an acoustic cover from some dude on YouTube.

Must of been mid afternoon
I could tell by how far the child’s shadow stretched out and
He walked with a purpose
In his sneakers, down the street
He had, many questions
Like children often do
He said,
Tell me all your thoughts on God
Tell me am I very far?

Must of been late afternoon
On our way the sun broke free of the clouds
We count only blue cars
Skip the cracks, in the street
And ask many questions
Like children often do
We said,
Tell me all your thoughts on God
‘Cause I would really like to meet her.
And ask her why we’re who we are.
Tell me all your thoughts on God,
Cause I am on my way to see her.
So tell me am I very far -
Am I very far now?

Its getting cold picked up the pace
How our shoes make hard noises in this place
Our clothes are stained
We pass many, cross eyed people
And ask many questions
Like children often do

Tell me all your thoughts on God
‘Cause I would really like to meet her.
And ask her why we’re who we are.
Tell me all your thoughts on God?
‘Cause I am on my way to see her.
So tell me am I very far?
Am I very far now
Am I very far now
Am I very far now

Latest iTunes Download: Quiet Drive – Time After Time

My latest iTunes download is Time After Time by Quiet Drive.  Kind of corney, but the song itself even in classic form is timeless (hah!).  Plus, the train station scene was filmed in the Morristown Train Station!  Its a cool song, and worth checking out.
